Our farm

Created by Matt Pritchard on land his family has farmed for four generations

Matt has been a builder for 20 years, on everything from ancient churches to modern homes. During lockdown he rediscovered the streams and hidden corners of the family farm in St Margaret’s, and planned four secluded cabins that would be comfortable and as kind to the land as possible.

The land is a registered Local Wildlife Reserve. Look out for owls, woodpeckers and a regular visiting heron, with sheep and spring lambs in the fields around you.

  • 18 acresof rewilded countryside, with each cabin in its own spot
  • 400+trees planted by the family so far
  • 2,000+bluebell, snowdrop and daffodil bulbs in the ground
  • 4 hivesof Matt’s bees in the corner of the site

As seen on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, first shown on 11 July 2024.

Before you book

Good to know about staying off-grid

The Fold is powered by solar panels and supplied by spring water, and the cars stay in the car park. That’s a big part of why it feels so peaceful, so here’s what it means for your stay.

A short walk in

Park at the car park and walk to your cabin. We provide a wheelbarrow for bags. Paths aren’t lit, so bring a torch and wellies or boots.

Solar power

Lights, hot water and USB charging all run on solar. There are no 3-pin plugs, so leave the hairdryer at home.

Dogs

One well-behaved dog in the A Frame or Treehouse, up to two in the Nova Dome, £20 per dog per stay. The Scandi Cabin is pet-free.

Minimum stay

2 nights midweek, 3 nights at weekends. Check in from 3pm, check out by 10.30am, with a lock-box code emailed before you arrive.

Wifi and signal

Every cabin has wifi. Phone signal depends on your network, so check coverage first if you need it.

Bring your own towels

Bed linen is provided. Bring your own towels and robes and save £12, or add them when you book.

After dark

Wood-fired tubs and starry skies

With little artificial light around the valley, the night sky feels huge. Light the fire under your hot tub, or run the Treehouse’s copper bath, and watch the stars come out. The Scandi Cabin and Nova Dome both have a window above the bed.

“The night skies are truly mesmerising.”Georgiana
